Opportunities for supply chain restructuring brought about by RCEP regional integration
After the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) comes into effect, China's furniture exports to ASEAN will increase by 18.7% in 2023, with the proportion of sofa legs and other components rising from 15% to 27%. The reconstruction of regional industrial chains presents three major characteristics:
4.1 Path of tariff dividend release
Application of rules of origin:
Shandong enterprises can obtain RCEP certificate of origin by completing surface treatment of Steel Sofa Legs in Vietnam (with a value-added of 35%), and export tariffs to Japan will be reduced from 3.2% to 0;
Cost optimization case:
Dongguan enterprises have reduced Sofa Foot logistics costs by 22% and shortened delivery cycles by 10 days through the "China produced core components+Malaysia assembled finished products" model.

4.2 Localization Requirement Response
Religious and cultural adaptation:
The "Prayer Direction Indicator Foot Pad" (with built-in electronic compass) developed for the Indonesian Muslim market, priced at $8.5 per unit, will sell over 2 million sets in 2023;
Climate adaptation improvement:
The high temperature and humidity environment in Thailand has led to a demand for anti mold silicone foot covers. The nano silver ion coating product developed by Shenzhen enterprises has a market share of 41%.
4.3 Infrastructure linkage
Dividend of China Laos Railway:
Yunnan enterprises transport sofa legs to Vientiane by railway, with a shipping cost 18% lower than sea freight and a delivery time of 5 days faster;
Digital Customs Service System:
Guangzhou enterprises have connected to the RCEP member countries' customs data exchange platform, reducing clearance time from 72 hours to 8 hours.

Strategic suggestion: Build "micro factories" in places such as Haiphong in Vietnam and Rayong in Thailand, focusing on value-added processes such as sofa foot surface treatment, and maximizing the utilization of regional resources.
